Neets Control - AlFA II

A video introduction to Neets AlFa II control system

  • Q: Will the AlFa II replace the current AlFa?
A: Yes, the first AlFa is discontinued and AlFa II has replaced it.
  • Q: What’s the cost of the AlFa software?
A: All Neets software is Free of Charge. That includes all configuration software (Project Editor and Project Designer), the software for making device drivers (Device Editor) and the Neets´ apps for iOS, Android and Windows 8. Download it right here from our website, remember you need to log in to do so.
  • Q: Is it possible to integrate Video Conferencing with the AlFa in Project Designer?
A: Yes, you can design your customer user interface (UI) and the specific functions needed via drag and drop in Project Designer
  • Q: Which possibilities does the AlFa II have for adding physical buttons?
A: You can use the NEB Keypad or the I/O keyboard.
  • Q: How many NEBs can you add to the AlFa II?
A: Add up to 5 NEB units via NEB extender.
    Max 4 x NEB Keyboard
Max 2 x NEB Level control
    Max 1 x Expansion board
  • Q: Can existing projects on AlFa be converted to AlFa II and Project Designer?
A: Existing projects in Project Editor can not be converted to Project Designer. But it is possible to use your graphical user interface (GUI) from Project Editor and configure the icons/ elements with new commands in Project Designer for new AlFa II projects.
  • Q: Does the AlFa II have bi-directional communication ports?
A: Yes, the AlFa II has 3 x RS-232 which are bi-directional and supports 10 x LAN devices.
  • Which software is used for configuring the AlFa II?
A: We recommend that you use the newest version of Neets Project Designer.
  • Q: Is it possible to access a GUI (Graphical User Interface) with the AlFa II?
A: Yes, you can freely configure and design a GUI for the AlFa II in Project Designer.
  • Q: Is the AlFa II expandable?
A:Yes, you can expand with up to five NEB modules, choose between up to four extra keypads and/or up to two level controls and/or one Port Expansion.
  • Q: What should I do when I want to use the Alfa II as Enhanced LAN expansion?
A: Upload an empty project into the Alfa II. This ensures that the systems are running the same firmware.
  • Q: How does extension devices communicate with the control system?
A: The Neets Control system uses Multicast to communicate. This is done on IP address port 7979.
    • Each control system/extension device sends out a "keep alive" every 3 seconds.
    • If the control system has not received any message from an extension device for 10 sec it will indicate connection error.
    • The timeout is an individual timer for each extension device.
    • The “missing connection” indication will be removed when the connection is established and the extension device is initialized again.
    • The 10 sec timeout is reset whenever there are communication between the units e.g. when RS232 commands is transmitted or an event is triggered.
    • The control systems support IGMP, this allows the control system to receive only multicast packages on the address that it needs and it also doesn't “Pollute” the entire network like UDP broadcast. In order to use IGMP the switch also needs to support this.
  • Q: What is the maximum memory card capacity supported?
A: It is important to use an industrial grade card with maximum 4 Gb of memory. We recommend smallest possible and stock size are 256 Mb.

spare cards can be purchased here:
